University of Nebraska, Lincoln Bands Venues Stores Eat & Drink Around Town

Nebraska's capital has long stood in the shadow of the state's largest city, Omaha 50 miles to the northeast, but Lincoln has its own budding music community, bolstered by a large college population that's ripe for the picking for local bands trying to find an audience.

Lincoln currently boasts four downtown music venues within a five-block walk, as The Zoo Bar and Duffy's Tavern share a corner a few blocks down from Knickerbockers and Box Awesome. Indie rock bands share the limelight with those who prefer rockabilly, pop-punk, metal and old-school country. A handful of Lincoln bands can fill the aforementioned venues with upwards of 400 people: Eagle Seagull (think Arcade Fire), The Killigans (Flogging Molly) and the JV Allstars (Blink-182) are among the acts that can claim such a distinction. -Jeremy Buckley
