Any drive over 30 hours is way too long.

We left at 7 p.m. on Saturday night in Oxford, Miss., and arrived at 2 a.m. Sunday morning in San Diego. No part of the drive was particularly interesting. There isn't much you can say about the desert other than it's weird as hell and endless.

There's a place in North Texas that's home to the largest cross in the Western Hemisphere. We honestly contemplated the validity of that statement. We were sure we've seen bigger.

You go a little bit crazy in a van after that long. You begin to honk at things for the sake of honking. You begin to see why truckers seem to have that crazy eye. You look around at your friends and hope they are holding onto their sanity better than you. It kind of makes you sick to your stomach to think about.

Our trailer got stuck in a hole at a gas station two hours from San Diego. With half the van in the road, we pulled out our car jack and successfully detached the trailer from our van without any injuries. That was where we paid $3.99 for gas and wondered, "Is this worth it?"

Depressing huh?

Well, it wasn't so bad. We went to the zoo and saw the polar and panda bears. We touched the Pacific Ocean for the first time. We did a TV spot. Sean got makeup on his head.

And oh, we're on tour with the Breeders! That's the whole reason I guess we're doing this. Everyone was extremely nice and the shows have been extremely fun. The drives have been long, but the anticipation of the next show makes up for it. We're one week into this thing and it's been extremely worth it. We've been listening to a lot of Paul Simon.
